MANASSAS, Va. — Richard D. Sword appeared in the Manassas Courthouse yet again in the ongoing saga of the Sword trial. Richard Sword and his brother Gerry were arrested on murder charges in late 2012 for the death of 44-year-old Anthony Bailey of Manassas.

In February, the charge was reduced to tampering, transporting, secreting, concealing or altering a dead body after the medical examiner’s report showed that Bailey died from a mixture of ethanol, Paroxetine (an anti-depressant), and Benedryl.

MANASSAS, Va. — Lyle Foster III was found by a family member late Wednesday evening in Manassas.

The man, missing from his Georgetown South home since Monday morning, was located on Wellington Road by a family member who was driving in the area and “had a hunch” to look in the area, said city police spokeswoman Adrianne Helms.

KJ Mushung, a reporter and copy editor for Potomac Local News, won 10 awards in the Virginia Press Women’s annual contest. Six of the awards were for her work at Northern Virginia Community College and four for work in Potomac Local News. One of the entries for NOVA went on to win a national award.

For Potomac Local News, Mushung placed first in both food writing and environmental writing, she placed second in online feature writing and in general news story online.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Despite the weather today, seniors at Patriot High School in Nokesville will have their graduation ceremony as planned, they’ll just have to do it inside the school’s gymnasium.

The indoor graduation moved from the school’s football field means attendees will be issued tickets to view the ceremony either in person or on a closed-circuit TV channel inside the school
