As part of its month-long fundraising initiative for Special Olympics Virginia, CiCi’s Pizza will host “Dough Raisers” events at participating* locations across the state on Tuesday, Aug. 13. During the event, CiCi’s guests will be challenged to purchase enough Special Olympics paper logos to cover an entire law enforcement vehicle. All proceeds from the $1 logos will go to Special Olympics Virginia.

Since Aug. 1, CiCi’s guests have been able to purchase and personalize Special Olympics logos, which are displayed in restaurants throughout the state. Guests also can donate $5 to the cause and in return receive a voucher for a free regular sized drink. Both fundraising initiatives will continue through the month.

Steve Jones was born in Washington, D.C., on May 11,1956, the youngest of the late William and Irene Moore Jones’ two children.

Steve’s early education was in the District of Columbia Public Schools where he graduated from H.D. Woodson High School. He continued his education at Howard University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. While at Howard, Steve had an internship in the Sports Department of The Enquirer newspaper in Columbus, Ga.

MARIAN G. KERXTON, 73, of Gainesville, VA passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2013 in Haymarket, VA. She was born April 28, 1940 the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Gordon) Gilfenbaum. She moved to the Virginia area in 1961 and was retired from the FBI after 34 years of service. She is survived by two sons, Jeff Kerxton and wife Cindy and Brad Kerxton and wife Cheri; one sister, Susan Pearl and husband Richard; seven grandchildren, Kim, Brittany, Lauren, Taylor, Rachel, Drew and Zac.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 12:00 noon Friday, August 2, 2013 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, VA where a service will be held at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be 10:45 AM Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations to Capital Caring, 10530 Linden Lake Plaza, #200, Manassas, VA 20109.

JOSEPH NAHIM SLAIBY, 75, of Manassas, Virginia passed away Tuesday at Novant Health Prince William Hospital, Manassas, Virginia.

He was born November 1, 1937 in Ghazir, Lebanon the son of Nahim and Siyeka Slaiby. He was retired from the produce department of Giant Foods and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Natalia A. Elmonia, 86, passed away Sunday August 04, 2013 surrounded by all her loving family.

Natalia was preceded in death by loving husband Eladio. She is survived by her loving daughters: Emelita Cheek, Elena Landavazo, Edevina Alt, Eufrocina Zarrella, and Elvira Kellaway; sons: Ernesto, Emmanuel, Enrique, Efren, and Edwin Elomina. He will also be deeply missed by his 33 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren along with host of other family and friends.
