PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Two people were killed and three injured early Sunday morning in a car crash in Prince William County.

Police said a Honda Civic was making a left turn from Va. 234 onto Minnieville Road when it crossed the path of a GMC Envoy SUV and collided with it. The Civic, with three people inside, immediately caught fire where. A passenger in the rear of the car became trapped, and fire crews had to pull the victim from the car before they pronounced her dead on scene.

A found lottery ticket netted $250,000 for a Manassas man.

According to the Virginia Lottery, Scott Murillo bought the Mega Millions ticket at an Exxon gas station in October and forgot about it. Late last month, Murillo was cleaning out some old papers when he found the ticket and then decided to check the numbers.

Mr. Rudolph “Rudy” Hendrix of Raeford, N.C. died Thursday, March 6, 2014 in his home at the age of 62.

Mr. Hendrix was born in Scotland County on June 4, 1951. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Sebald Hendrix and his brother, Randy Williamson. A graduate of Hoke County High School, Rudy served in the U.S. Air Force and later graduated from the Northern Virginia Police Academy. He began working with the Prince William County Police Department and retired as a criminal investigator. Upon his retirement he moved back home to Raeford in 2005 and joined the Patriot Guard Riders and the Blue Knights where he served as Road Captain.

Gary C. Williams, of Lake Ridge, passed away March 6, 2014 at Sentara Potomac Hospital. Gary was born in 1958 in Idaho. He touched and saved many lives in the rooms and throughout the community. He gave hope to those who had none and brought many to Christ.

Gary is survived by his adoring wife Patty, his treasured boys Cameron and Jordan (and their mother). He loved his sister Linda, her children Julie and Laurie, husband Nick, children Sam, Jolene, and Susanna: and sister Anita, children Jessica and Nate. He is also survived by step-mother Sandi and his best friend Tom and wife Ellen, and his mentor Gary and wife Pat. He is preceded in death by his parents Jodi and Gerald and sister Candy. He was a small business owner of Belmont Power Equipment in Newington, VA. He will be remembered by Bob his business partner and the rest of the family at Belmont. His hobbies include music, kayaking and hiking. He was very loyal to and loved at Woodbridge Group.

Ida Chico Simpson, Of Stafford, Va., died on Tuesday March 4, 2014 at Mary Washington Hospital. Ida is preceded in death by her husband Henry “Hank” Simpson. She is survived by her daughters Helene Simpson-Chapman and her husband Michael, Elise Simpson and two grandchildren: Micayla and Austin Chapman. She is also survived by her cousin Jose Roman Franqui and his wife Marilyn Atiles. Although raised in Brooklyn, NY, Ida has a large and loving extended family in Puerto Rico, where she was born.

Ida attended Lee College in Cleveland, Tenn. where she studied to become a teacher. She transferred and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BA in Art Education before attending George Mason University where she earned her Masters in Fine Arts. She has been a faithful member of Montclair Tabernacle Church of God for 49 years where she taught Sunday School and Children’s Church with her husband and children. Ida taught Art at Woodbridge Senior and then Gar-field Senior High Schools for over 39 years until she retired in 2004.
