Take it slow out there this morning as there are reports of minor ice patches on roads across the region.
In Prince William County, major roads like Va. 234 and Va. 123 all are reported to me in “minor” condition (low on the Virginia’s Department of Transportation’s worry index) but all of the major roads have icy spots on them.
The first and coldest 5K run of the year will take place again in Occoquan.
The Frigid 5K Run and Walk will mark its second year in the small town on Feb. 8. The event is sponsored by the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Neabsco Optimists Club (OWN).
Police in Prince William County made arrests in two separate rape incidents. One of the cases involves the arrest of a 14-year-old male whom police said sexually assaulted two children, ages 7 and 10 years old.

How much snow did we get today?
At 3 p.m. in Stafford County there was a snow of .4 inches total reported to the National Weather Service.
QUANTICO, Va. — The body found sprawled in bloodied snow off Application Trail in Training Area 8 of Marine Corps Base Quantico had been shot, beheaded and skinned. The body cavity was still warm when authorities arrived at the scene in the afternoon of Dec. 10, 2013.
It was the carcass of a buck, shot with a rifle in an archery-only zone and most likely shot from the road. Along with the head, the backstrap — the choicest cut of meat — had also been removed.

OCCOQUAN, Va. — Mayor Earnie Porta has decided he won’t seek reelection after nearly seven years on the job.
The popular Democrat announced today there are new things in life that we wants to occupy his time with, though there was no indication that he would seek higher office in a local or state seat if one were to become available.
PRTC will put its emergency service plan (ESP) into effect for all of its buses at noon today.
Only its OmniLink local buses in Prince William, Manassas, and Manassas Park, had been running on the ESP.

The snow emergency put into effect on Jan. 21, 2014 in the City of Manassas has been lifted at 9 a.m. today, Jan. 22, 2014. This means that snow emergency routes will be open for parking in designated areas.
