Luke Aaron Russell, age 33, passed away Wednesday, February 5th, 2014 at his home in Manassas, VA. He is survived by his Mother, Julie Russell and his Grandmother, Mamie Russell, both of Manassas, his Grandfather Robert Russell of Stuart, FL, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Luke was a graduate of Osbourn Park High School, Class of 1998.

Florence “Flo” Chapline – 82 years young, passed away on February 2, 2014 surrounded by her family. Born August 14, 1931 to Alice Margaret Anderson and Daniel O’Connor Grant in Tampa, Florida, she grew up with her two older sisters, Margaret and Dorothy.

Florence moved to Alexandria, Virginia in 1935 and attended George Washington High School, graduating in 1950. She married Calvert (Bill) Clifton Chapline on September 19, 1953 and together they raised five children, Cathy, Rosa, Beth, Dan, and Amy. In 1962 the family moved to Falls Church, Virginia to be close to Bill’s parents and later relocated to Stafford county and Manassas, Virginia. Bill passed away in 1983.

Margaurite H. Evans was born on November 3, 1944 to Albert Washington and Rosie V. Hardiman-Bryant in Leflore, Mississippi. At 69 years young, she was called home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2014 at Fairfax INOVA Hospital in Northern Virginia. Margaurite attended Reed Elementary School in Holcomb, Mississippi and later Wilkes Elementary School in Money, Mississippi. She graduated in 1964 from Amanda Elzy High School in Greenwood, Mississippi and was a member of the school choir. In 1965, Margaurite met and married Willie M. Evans and together they raised four children Larry, Gregory, Teresa, and Marcia.

Margaurite joined Saint Peter Baptist Church as a child, then Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church as a young adult and later Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church. After moving to Thibodaux, Louisiana with her son, Gregory, she joined the New Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Reverend Kenneth Jackson. She also served at the Vogelweh Air Force Base Chapel while living in Germany.

Julia Beverly Green, 82, of Manassas, passed away January 26, 2014 at the Capital Caring, Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center; Arlington, Virginia.

Born July 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Robert Leslie and Ruby White Beverly. On September 6, 1953 in Elizabeth City, N.C., she married Harold Ryland Green, who preceded her in death on April 29, 2010.


News

A New York man, Taleek Sherrod Swinney, was sentenced today to more than 24 years in prison, as well as 20 years of supervision after release for his role as a sex trafficker in several states, including Virginia.

Acting U.S. Attorney Boente commended the Stafford County Sherriff’s Office for their role in implicating Swinney, and for their commitment to stopping sex trafficking.
