A man wanted on outstanding warrants in Prince William and Arlington counties led police on a pursuit along Interstate 66 on Saturday.

Police said the suspected jumped into the driver’s seat of a Dodge Charger after it had been stopped by police near U.S. 50 in Fairfax County. The ensuing pursuit led officers into Arlington where the suspect’s car hit two others causing it to spin out.

It’s a sales tax-free weekend across Virginia.

Retailers will not charge you sales tax on school supplies and clothing between today and Sunday night. The idea is to help parents get their children ready to back to school while spurring spending in area stores.

The Prince William Ice Center has been given the all-clear to reopen this afternoon, said General Manager Bill Hutzler.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — With a golden shovel and the tossing of dirt, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe broke ground for a new Virginia Railway Express station in Woodbridge.

The $14 million passenger depot will be on the commuter railroad’s Fredericksburg line, and will be built in the developing Potomac Shores neighborhood, a master-planned community already getting attention after it opened its Jack Niclaus-designed golf course in June.

WOODBRIDGE, Va.  – During the month of August, the Prince William Republican Committee will be conducting a back-to-school supply drive to benefit the County’s neediest students. The Committee will partner with the Prince William County Public Schools Education Foundation, or SPARK, to deliver school supplies to students at the end of August at several schools to be named at a later date. This community service project is part of a year-long Community Service Initiative that has become a focus for Prince William Republicans.

Participants are being asked to purchase school supplies for needy students and drop them off at the Prince William Republican Committee headquarters located at 4431 Prince William Parkway, Woodbridge on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. or bring the supplies to the Committee’s next monthly meeting on Monday, August 25, 2014. The location of the meeting will be announced by August 11.
