One of the biggest challenges any local government faces is how to prioritize spending with limited resources.  Localities have to strike the right balance between paying for the core services of government and allowing families to keep more of their hard earned money.  Every dollar spent should be debated and evaluated against other expenses.

In Prince William County, we have many high priorities facing the Board of County Supervisors.  Each year, our classrooms become more and more crowded, we continue to struggle to hire enough police officers and firefighters, our social services seem to be at a breaking point, and too many people sit on roads that are at the brink of capacity.

Buster is a 3 year old, orange, DSH male who likes to play a lot and gets along very well with the other cats. He is at a good age to introduce to dogs as well. Buster has been neutered and has received all vaccines.

Emma is a beautiful, all black Retriever/ poodle mix. She is a gentle, playful and friendly,10 month old puppy who would be a wonderful addition to any family. She is  has been spayed and is UTD on shots.

Drivers can expect some freezing rain in the area tonight.

The rain is expected to freeze on contact with the surface after 3 a.m. as temperatures drop below freezing. This could cause some light ice build up across the region and could hamper the Monday morning commute in some areas. There is a higher likelihood drivers will see more ice the further they travel west of Interstate 95.

Peter Candland will seek reelection as the Gainesville District Supervisor on the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. He won’t run for the At-large Chairman of the Board position as once thought held by Corey Stewart, who is seeking reelection.

Candland’s decision comes as all of the seats on the Board of Supervisors are up for reelection in 2015. Voters will go to the polls in November.

The city is receiving three Shiba Inu mixes that were rescued from a meat factory in South Korea. The three dogs are part of a group of 23 canines rescued from the factory and brought to a shelter in Alexandria.

The shelter will take a $20 deposit cash or check while an adoption application is reviewed. Landlords are typically called and asked if pets are permitted on the property before the city shelter approves any adoption application.

Richard T. Stewart, 57, of Germantown, Maryland is charged with failure to yield right of way after a fatal crash in Woodbridge.

Stewart was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado and was making a left turn from Chesapeake Drive to Route 1 south when it crossed paths with a Yamaha motorcycle traveling north on Route 1. The crash occurred Dec. 2, 2014.

William Murphy will suspend his duties on the Dumfries Board of Zoning Appeals and take a temporary seat on the Town Council.

Murphy was appointed to the ordinance making governing board for the 1.6 square mile town on Tuesday night. His appointment comes after longtime Councilwoman Kristen Forrester stepped down from the Council late last year.
