WASHINGTON — As part of the National Day of Service on Friday, Sept. 6, multiple locally-owned home service franchises donated over 300 hours of repair and maintenance services.

Technicians from Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia – Arlington to Haymarket, Mr. Handyman of Fairfax and Eastern Loudoun Counties, Mr. Appliance of Northern Virginia, and The Grounds Guys of Gainesville Virginia, all Neighborly companies will be taking place in this event.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – Four people are in custody after a robbery turned to murder in Dumfries.

Detectives from the Prince William County Police Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, made multiple arrests in connection to the murder of James Edward Grooms that occurred in the area of Buell Court and Old Triangle Road in Dumfries on July 20.


OCCOQUAN —The fall segment of the Occoquan Arts and Crafts Show will take place Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It will be held rain or shine in downtown historic Occoquan.

QUANTICO — The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation will host a sensory-friendly screening of Superpower Dogs this Saturday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

During this special screening, the theater will be dimly lit, the movie will be played at a lower volume, and viewers will be allowed to speak softly and move around as needed.

QUANTICO — The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation’s Summer Concert Series ends with a bang this Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. with a performance by the Quantico Marine Corps Band.

The Quantico Marine Corps Band, one of the oldest professional musical ensembles in the Marine Corps, has entertained in events from the Super Bowl to Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.


WARRENTON — Novant Health UVA Health System’s Prince William and Haymarket Medical Centers have been recognized by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.

Both medical centers received Gold Plus Quality Recognition in the Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure.


STAFFORD — A suspect was arrested on numerous charges early Wednesday morning by units with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

On Aug. 13, around 11:50 p.m., Deputy Russo and Deputy Fulford responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle driving in a field at Fredericksburg Motor Sports located at 430 Kings Highway.


WOODBRIDGE — Visiting Rippon Landing Neighborhood Park and the boardwalk that crosses the Julie A. Metz Wetlands is easier now with the completion of the Neabsco Regional Park Parking Lot.

The lot, located at 15125 Blackburn Road in Woodbridge, not only offers parking for boardwalk and park visitors, but for commuters as well.
