A new subdivision, Highland Park Townhomes at Town Square, is coming to Dumfries – but we don’t know much about it.

On Tuesday, June 2, the Dumfries Town Council approved the new subdivision on what will be Townsquare Court, just off Route 1, and the 105 homes that it will create. 


Police recently paid a visit to the popular Harold & Cathy’s Dumfries Cafe. 

A source told Potomac Local News police were sent to the greasy spoon by order of Dumfries Town Manager Keith Rogers, who wanted to close down the cafe’s outdoor seating because of a zoning violation. The cafe did not have a permit for the outdoor seating which they had set up.

A group of Occoquan residents have been painting rocks and hiding them around the town for people to find, bringing some color to the town and its people. 

People who find these rocks have been taking photos with them and then hiding them again for others to find.

Manassas Park received $1.5 million in CARES Act funding, and in their meeting on Tuesday, May 19, the governing body went over how they could spend that money.

The CARES Act is a federal program that gives money to states and localities to be used on coronavirus relief. When a locality receives these funds, there are strict guidelines on how the money can be used.


On Tuesday, May 19, the Dumfries Town Council will vote on whether or not to hire an Interim Town Attorney from Pandak & Associates.

At their last town meeting on Tuesday, May 5, the town council decided to fire their former attorney, Brendan McConnell. The motion was made by Councilwoman Selonia Miles and seconded by Councilwoman Cydny Neville.
