Fauquier Fusion and Elite has announced tryout dates for the 2015-16 season.

Fauquier Fusion and Elite, a girls travel softball organization, has announced tryout dates for the 2015-16 season. All tryouts will be held at Childs Field, 5252 Casanova Rd, Warrenton, VA 20187.

Saturday, August 8*
10U: 9:00-10:30 am
12U: 11:00-12:30 pm
14U: 1:00-2:30 pm
16U/18U: 3:00-4:30 pm

Downtown Manassas will make its television debut on a History Channel program this year.

According to Manassas Museum programs coordinator Doug Horhota, the History Channel decided to film a program on war trains in Manassas because the city is known for its trains.

Townsend recognizes the importance of prioritizing education

Residents of the 31st House District of VA (which includes parts of Dumfries, Dale City, Woodbridge, and Triangle in Prince William County, and Catlett, Calverton, and Casanova in southern Fauquier County) have an opportunity this year to elect an educator to the House of Delegates. Since only eight of our current delegates have a teaching background, the election of Sara Townsend would provide the much-needed addition of someone who has teaching experience and an interest in education policy.

Sara Townsend, a resident of Fauquier County, is a former teacher who is currently pursuing a PhD in Education Policy at George Mason University. One of her strong motivations to challenge Delegate Scott Lingamfelter for this seat is her desire to speak up for students, teachers, and parents in the decision-making body of Virginia. She recognizes the importance of prioritizing education and the proper balance of students and teachers in the classroom if children are expected to do their best and learn.

Good morning – July 26, 1990 brought us the Americans with Disabilities Act, commonly referred to as the ADA. Please join the Independence Empowerment Center and a host of partners on Saturday, July 26 for the 25th anniversary celebration!

There will be a silent action, games for the children, and visits with service dogs. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet and greet our hard-working advocacy groups and learn how to support them in their continuing efforts to help people with disabilities, of all ages remain independent in their own communities.

Woman flees captor on I-95 in Dale City

Virginia State Police were called to mile marker 155 on I-95 in Dale City to search for an abducted woman yesterday afternoon.

According to Virginia State Police, troopers were sent to search for the suspect, 28-year old Henrico County man Aaron Berg, and the 18-year old female victim from Prince Edward County.

Two men charged following vehicle fire in Triangle

Prince William fire and rescue were called to a vehicle fire on a service road near Possum Point Road in Triangle.

According to the Prince William Fire Marshal’s Office, responders from the Dumfries Triangle Volunteer Fire Department found a BMW on blocks on fire at the scene on the afternoon of June 6.
