The School Board of the City of Manassas will still hold its Regular Meeting tonight, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 7 pm at City Hall (9027 Center Street). The Public Hearing on the FY2018 Budget will also take place during the meeting, however, because there may be citizens who are unable to attend due to unsafe road conditions in certain areas, the Public Hearing will continue Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 7 pm at City Hall.

On March 7, 2017, at approximately 2:42 PM, Deputy G.P. Gabrielli made contact with a concerned citizen near Motel 6 on Warrenton Road. Deputy Gabrielli was advised that a female had been approached by an unknown male while walking to a nearby convenience store.
We could get anywhere between three and eight inches of snow from this later winter storm that is slated to impact our region Monday night into Tuesday.

Woodbridge, VA March 12, 2017 — 8:22 a.m. Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Department responded to the report of a house fire at 1416 Colchester Road in Woodbridge. Initial units arrived on scene within minutes and reported smoke showing from the attic.

Road crews are preparing for major snowfall to start during the evening commute Monday, and the Virginia Department of Transportation asks that drivers and residents do the same.

Several days ago, I was shocked to learn that the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has given notice to terminate its arrangement with the Prince William County Registrar at the Caton Hill DMV Office. I could not believe what I was hearing.
Voter participation is one of the most important things in any democracy but not all citizens are given equal access to that franchise- and we are learning that this week here in Woodbridge. Virginia has a long history in this area and none of it has been positive.
I believe that everyone should have clean drinking water.
So, I was deeply disturbed when I found out that homeowners surrounding Dominion Energy’s Possum Point power plant had found elevated levels of toxic chemicals in their wells. I was shocked to also find out that Dominion stores a byproduct of burning coal — toxic coal ash — in onsite man-made ponds with less protection beneath them than would be required for any household waste landfill.
