Murder Investigation *VICTIM IDENTIFIED – Detectives from the Homicide Unit have confirmed the identity of the victim found murdered inside of a burning vehicle at Veterans Park in Woodbridge on March 15. Based upon a DNA analysis completed by the Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim has been identified as Santos Arquimidis SORTO AMAYA, 25, of Woodbridge.

The investigation revealed that the victim was initially reported as missing to Prince William County police on March 14 by family members after he did not show up for work and was unable to be reached. The victim was last seen leaving his residence in Woodbridge on the morning of March 13 to

From Prince William police: 

Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On May 7 at 11:03PM, officers responded to the Barrington Apartment complex located in the 10600 block of Blendia Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a disorderly person. The caller initially reported to police that an acquaintance, identified as Jasmine Nicole CHEW, refused to leave the area and had thrown a beer bottle at the apartment following a verbal altercation. As officers were responding, the accused brandished a handgun and fired through a sliding glass door into the apartment before leaving the area. The bullet struck the ceiling of the apartment before landing on a table. No injuries or other property damage was reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained several arrest warrants for the accused. The investigation continues.


Obituaries

Sharon Ann Closson (Jackson) of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Greensburg, Indiana passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018. She was born on February 9, 1943 in Greensburg to the late Vergia Nell (McGee) and Edwin A. Jackson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dianna Sue Norris (Jackson). She is survived by husband Steven Closson of New Paris, Indiana; daughters Stacy Closson and Sheri Economou (Closson), son-in-laws Sabry Hanna and George Economou; and four grandchildren Stephen and Suriel Hanna and Olivia and Shannon Economou.

Sharon was a graduate of Burney High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in 1965 where she was a member of Twin Pines Cooperative House. She married her college sweetheart Steven Closson in 1966 and they lived in Chicago, Illinois, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dumfries, Virginia, and Stuart. They had a great and loving marriage that lasted 52 years.
