Frederick, Md. –– Potomac snapped their three-game losing streak in style Monday in Frederick in 9-0 win over the Frederick Keys.

Marcos Frias gave the Potomac Nationals strong starting pitching, going 6.2 shutout innings, striking out five, walking two and yielding just four hit. The righty didn’t allow a runner to reach third base until the fourth inning, and only three runners made it into scoring position while he was on the bump.

Included the entire bill was $300 million, and only a portion of the money will be used for road widening. But the move comes in advance of the military’s Base Realignment and Closure, or BRAC, which is expected to move 20,000 new federal, military and civilian jobs to the base.

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-11) says the money will be a much-needed boost to help ready the region for the influx of BRAC employees.


Politics

As part of a redistricting plan from Prince William County, the four-lane road would split the River Oaks neighborhood in Woodbridge, putting a portion of the neighborhood now in the Woodbridge District into in the Dumfries District.

The nearby Harbor Station development would also be placed in the Dumfries District as part of the plan.


Weaving together the tongue-twisting tales of Dr. Seuss is no small feat, especially not when you throw singing into the mix. But Woodbridge Senior High School’s Theater Department tackled the challenge this weekend with their presentation of “Seussical: The Musical”.

Set in the various backdrops of Seuss’ beloved tales, “Seussical” takes the audience on a journey of combined stories, woven into a more cohesive tale, and teach them that individuality and creative thinking are to be valued, even when others don’t recognize it.


Woodbridge, Va. — The first four pitches at last week’s baseball game at C.D. Hylton High School vs. Gar Field Senior High School didn’t quite cross home plate, but the crowd cheered enthusiastically for each one.

Antietam Elementary School first graders from Lake Ridge joined Hylton’s regular starting lineup on the field as the conclusion of the “Bulldog Readers” program, which is now in its second year.

The expo originally began as a service of the Prince William County Park Authority but was eventually dropped due to budgetary restrictions, shared Park Authority representatives.  After the park authority dropped the program, the  children’s clothing store Gymboree brought it back, and then passed the torch again to Mona Tisler, who also runs the Classy Kids Consignment Sale.

Woodbridge, Va. –– The irony of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” playing in the background was not lost on walkers and runners as they checked in for the 4th Annual Kyle Wilson Memorial 10K Fitness Walk on Saturday.
