Metrorail extension gets $116M federal funding
The Metrorail extension project will get another $116 million in federal funding this week, Virginia Congressional members announced, reports The Washington Business Journal.
The suspect was arrested Tuesday. Prince William police said they stopped the suspect during a traffic stop near his home in the 13700 block of Palm Road in Dale City.
Police searched the suspect’s home, and at a home of a suspect’s acquaintance at 5016 Barnacle Place in Dumfries, and found evidence pertaining to a Jan. 13 shooting into a home in the 2500 block of Oak Tree Lane in Dumfries, Prince William police report.
North Stafford, Va. — Two deputies and a retired law enforcement officer at right place at the right time all chased down a Dumfries man.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a crash at 11:35 p.m. Saturday, at the intersection of Va. 610 and the Stafford Marketplace shopping center in North Stafford after two cars, an Acura and Cadillac Escalade, collided on the six-lane road. Both cars were so damaged the road a portion of the road was shut down, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

Va. Republicans push conservative bills
Virginia Gov. Robert F. McDonnell warned his Republican brethren to take it slow this month as they took control of the state Senate. “Don’t be arrogant, don’t overreach, don’t fight,” he told them. If the flurry of legislation they’ve introduced is any indication, Virginia’s most conservative Republicans aren’t holding back, reports The Washington Post.
Mental health evaluation sought for East Coast Rapist suspect
The lawyer for the suspected “East Coast Rapist” has asked a Prince William County court to order a mental health evaluation for the man allegedly linked to sexual assaults dating back to the 1990s, reports The Washington Post.
Cannons will fire at Ft. Belvoir between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as the 3rd U.S. Infantry, or the “Old Guard,” will be training on the Army post with their ceremonial cannon.
The cannon will fire to the south to minimize sound intrusion to area neighbors, according to Fairfax County Mt. Vernon Supervisor Gerry Hyland.
