A Manassas man is wanted by the Prince William County Police Department for an assault and attempted malicious wounding incident that took place yesterday evening. 

A police K-9 team and a Fairfax County police helicopter attempted to search for the suspect. He has not yet been caught and detained.

The driver of an SUV lost control his vehicle and slammed into the car of a Virginia State Trooper this morning.

It happened at mile post 152 in Dumfries at 3:30 a.m. The trooper was sitting in his patrol car running radar, where the old I-95 HOV lanes use to merge with the southbound travel lanes of I-95. A 2000  Ford Explorer traveling south overturned and slid off the left side of the highway and crashed into the troopers car, said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.

On March 5, 2015, Lieutenant General Richard F. Natonski, US Marine Corps (USMC) (Ret.) will speak at the Freedom Museum about Operation Al Tajr, The Battle of Fallujah, Iraq based on his first-hand knowledge.

General Natonski’s was commissioned in the USMC upon graduation from the University of Louisville in May 1973. His career spanned 37 years which included the Vietnam War, actions in Somalia, and as a U.N. Observer in the Middle East and the Iraq War. After his USMC retirement, he has become a Marine Corps Senior Mentor, Center for Naval Analyses Senior Fellow, JWF Industries Board Member, Johns Hopkins University Adjunct Professor, and instructor for the U.S. Strategic Leadership Center in Gettysburg, PA. He is also a member of the Conservation Leadership Council and the National Museum of the Marine Corps Advisory Board.

The Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition in partnership with PWC Parks and Recreation and Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District invites volunteers ages 10 years and older to help clean up the Marumsco Creek on Saturday, March 21, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Veterans Park, 14300 Featherstone Road in Woodbridge.

Pre-registration is not necessary unless you are bringing a large group. Registration will take place on the day of the event at the large pavilion in Veterans Park, located across from the Community Center. Doswell, VA April 20 –] Woodbridge High School VEX Robotics Competition team had a successful weekend at the VEX State Championship. This team won the Prestigious Excellence Award which is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high quality VEX robotics program. In addition to winning the Excellence Award, Woodbridge High School won Robot Skills Challenge, Design Award and were the Tournament Finalists. The team members are now preparing for the VEX Robotics Competition World Championship April 15-18th where they will represent Virginia and will compete against top teams from across the US and around the world.

Sunday brought high temperatures in the low 50s. That meant some of the snow that had fallen the yesterday when temperatures were well below freezing had a chance to melt.

Cold temperatures are back in the forecast on Monday. The National Weather Service issued a warning noting what melted today is likely to freeze overnight.
