Joseph Donald Cooper Jr

Joseph D Cooper, Jr. passed away on March 14, 2017. He is survived by his mother Betty Cooper, 3 daughters Valarie Fountaine, Brittany King and Krista Forcier, his partner Pegi McCauley and 7 grandchildren.
Joe Cooper had a profound influence on the national intelligence community throughout his career. He was a US Army CI Officer with several counterintelligence assignments and a tour with Special Forces in Southeast Asia. After 6 years of Active Duty, he remained in the Reserves until retirement obtaining the rank of Major.
Following military service Mr. Cooper continued his industry career with Harris Corporation, Melbourne, FL and Ultra Systems Defense and Space Inc, Irvine, CA.
He started Special Aerospace Security Services, Inc. (SASSi) in 1988 with a vision of providing the highest quality training for Industrial Special Security Officers. Seeing a continued need within the industry, Mr. Cooper expanded his businesses to include a construction and alarm company, SCIF Constructors, LLC providing high security construction capabilities to the Intelligence Community.
Mr. Cooper is a founding member of the Industrial Security Working Group (ISWG) and has served on the ISWG Board of Directors several times. He has also served on various boards and positions within the National Classification Management Society (NCMS).
Mr. Cooper is a graduate of the University of Tampa and has a Master’s of Science degree in Security Management from Rollins College.
It wasn’t all work for Joe, he had a passion for life and lived for his hobbies. His hobbies including golfing, boating, and flying. He completed over 1500 parachute jumps throughout his life.
