Fairfax County, Va. –– Some canines found trapped inside of a West Virginia mobile home will get a second lease on life.
At least 60 dogs were found recently in a trailer, and police said none of them had access to the outdoors.
Now, the Fairfax County Animal Shelter agreed to accept seven of the dogs and will put them up for adoption.
The dogs are between 10 weeks and 4-years-old, range between 10 and 15 pounds, and are likely a mix of Shetland Sheepdog, Corgi, and Chihuahua, according to the animal shelter.
The dogs should be available for adoption beginning April 26, after they get their shots and vaccinations taken care of.
It’s easy to adopt a dog in Fairfax County, but you must follow some simple guidelines:
-Must visit the dog in the shelter.
-If you have other animals in your home, they must also be present at the visit.
-Prospective adopters must provide proof of home ownership, or that dogs are allowed, if renting.
-Must show proof of current vaccinations, dog licenses, for all current pets.
It will cost you $40 to adopt a dog, but that includes a rabies vaccination if the dog is old enough to receive one, a microchip, and all other appropriate vaccinations, according to the shelter. There is also a $170 charge to spay or neuter the animal.
