Manassas Homicide Victim Found Burned

Police said the body of a man found in Old Town Manassas was set on fire. Investigators have released the names of the two Virginia men now in custody.

Arrested and charged with Murder in the first degree:

Richard Dale Sword, 50, of 6216 Pioneer Drive in Springfield, VA

Gerry Lee Sword, 49, also of Springfield (no fixed address).

Mr. Bailey’s body was discovered in a vacant parking lot in the 9000 block of Church Street, near the Olde Towne Inn, shortly after 7:30AM Tuesday, October 30, 2012. The accused men were identified through investigation and later observed on security video putting Mr. Bailey into a van owned by Richard Sword. Richard Sword was then seen on the video driving the van to the parking lot (where Mr. Bailey’s body was later found), removing Mr. Bailey, and setting him on fire.

The Police Department continues to work closely with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The definitive cause of Mr. Bailey’s death is still under investigation by the Medical Examiner.

MANASSAS, Va. — Manassas police have made two arrests in what is now a murder investigation.

The 44-year-old victim in the case, Antonio Ricardo Bailey, of 12000 block of Smithfield Road near Manassas, was found dead yesterday morning near a bank on Church Street in Old Town Manassas.

Police have not released the names of the two charged in the homicide investigation, but said they plan to do so later today in a full press release.
