Incumbent Republican Glen Hill has pulled ahead in the race after he was down in the vote count last night.
- Hill has a razor-thin lead in the count at 1.14%
- He’s facing Democrat Josh King, who has not yet said whether or not he will request a recount.
- It’s an automatic recount if the percentage difference is less than a half percent — the cost of which would be covered by the county.
- If over a half percent, the losing candidate may request a recount at their own expense.
- It would be a county-wide recount taking about a day and a half to complete, Prince William Board of Elections Secretary Keith Scarborough told me.
Election workers were busy this morning in Manassas working to certify the vote.
- As they do after each election, they’re reviewing tapes register tapes printed out by ballot machines from across the county.
- They’re looking for any discrepancies, such differences between the number of people checked in to vote versus the actual number of votes cast.
- They’re also reviewing provisional ballots to ensure all votes are counted correctly.
- They have until Friday to certify the election.
