FREDERICKSBURG — A small plane crashed this morning after taking off from Shannon Airport in Fredericksburg.
At 7:45 a.m. Friday (, Virginia State Police responded to a report of a crashed plane in Spotsylvania County.
A small, private aircraft was located on federal property near Shannon Airport. The pilot – and only occupant of the plane – has been transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.
The FAA and NTSB have been notified.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time.
