Prince William County police investigated a report of shots fired Thursday evening in Nokesville after multiple gunshots were heard in the area. Officers found a shell casing in the roadway but reported no injuries or property damage.
Stafford County deputies arrested two Fredericksburg men for public intoxication late Thursday—one at the Rappahannock Regional Jail lobby and another after a disturbance at a Super 8 motel. Deputies also took a report of check fraud involving an altered check on Payton Drive.

Shots Fired on Kettle Run Road
On August 13 at 6:38 p.m., officers responded to the 11000 block of Kettle Run Road in Nokesville to investigate a report of shots fired. The investigation revealed multiple gunshots were heard in the area. Officers located a shell casing in the roadway. No injuries or property damage were reported. The case remains under investigation.

Public Intoxication Arrest at Rappahannock Regional Jail
At 9:29 p.m. on August 13, a deputy responded to a report of an intoxicated person in the lobby of Rappahannock Regional Jail at 1745 Richmond Highway. The man displayed glassy eyes, slurred speech, an unsteady balance and a strong odor of alcohol. James Beverly, 44, of Fredericksburg, was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was held at the jail until sober.
Public Intoxication Arrest at Super 8 Motel
At 11:49 p.m. on August 13, a deputy responded to a disturbance at the Super 8 motel at 557 Warrenton Road. The manager asked that people causing a disturbance be removed from the property. One man who made contact with the deputy showed signs of impairment, including glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol. Robert Rivera, 42, of Fredericksburg, was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
Fraud Report on Payton Drive
At 12:53 p.m. on August 13, a deputy responded to a fraud report on Payton Drive involving an altered check. The victim reported noticing an unauthorized withdrawal from their account after a previously written check had been altered for mobile deposit. The victim notified their bank, which closed the account. A police report was taken for further investigation. Police did not specify the exact community along Payton Drive.
