Fredericksburg man dies in I-95 crash in Prince William County

Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 95 in Prince William County.

The crash happened at 7:20 a.m. on December 27, 2025, in the southbound lanes near the 150-mile marker. According to police, a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup truck veered off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. The impact caused the attached trailer to detach, and both the truck and trailer overturned.

The driver, Ken S. Abel, 52, of Fredericksburg, was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police said Abel was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Investigators are considering whether a medical issue may have contributed to the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
