
Three of Old Dominion Humane Society’s longest residents—Crash, Ziggy, and Butterscotch—have patiently waited for their forever homes, watching hundreds of other dogs find loving families. Together, they have spent a total of 1,620 days in the rescue facility or with foster families, and ODHS is determined to find them the perfect match.
Meet the Longest Residents
Crash – This compact, 15-pound pup has been at ODHS since July 5, 2023—waiting 600 days for his perfect home. While shy, he thrives in a quiet, structured environment. He prefers to be the only pet in the home and requires an experienced adopter who understands his need for patience and stability.
Ziggy – With a big personality packed into a 15-pound frame, Ziggy has been at ODHS for 600 days, since July 15, 2023. He’s well-mannered, loves belly rubs, and listens to commands. He thrives in an adult-only home where his adopter can maintain strict boundaries. While he wears a tiny muzzle in public, he’s a volunteer favorite for his affectionate nature and playful energy.
Butterscotch – Arriving as a pregnant stray on January 10, 2024, Butterscotch raised 10 puppies who have all been adopted—now it’s her turn. This two-year-old sweetheart is great with kids, dogs, and cats. She’s active, adventurous, and would make the perfect companion for someone who loves outdoor activities like hiking and running.
How You Can Help
Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) is a no-kill rescue dedicated to placing pets in loving homes. To meet Crash, Ziggy, and Butterscotch, visit ODHS at 3602 Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg, VA during adoption events:
Wednesdays: 5–7 p.m.
Fridays: 6–8 p.m.
Saturdays: 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

On June 20th, 2025, Woodbridge Rotary Club will be holding our 21st annual charity golf tournament. This tournament is in memory of two of our past Presidents and valued members of the community. Joe Devaney passed away March 22, 2005 and a few years ago, Bill O’Hop passed away barely a week after playing in this tournament in 2015. Both Joe and Bill were each other’s best friends and they both loved golf!
