Three of Old Dominion Humane Society’s longest residents—Crash, Ziggy, and Butterscotch—have patiently waited for their forever homes, watching hundreds of other dogs find loving families. Together, they have spent a total of 1,620 days in the rescue facility or with foster families, and ODHS is determined to find them the perfect match.
Meet the Longest Residents
Crash – This compact, 15-pound pup has been at ODHS since July 5, 2023—waiting 600 days for his perfect home. While shy, he thrives in a quiet, structured environment. He prefers to be the only pet in the home and requires an experienced adopter who understands his need for patience and stability.
Ziggy – With a big personality packed into a 15-pound frame, Ziggy has been at ODHS for 600 days, since July 15, 2023. He’s well-mannered, loves belly rubs, and listens to commands. He thrives in an adult-only home where his adopter can maintain strict boundaries. While he wears a tiny muzzle in public, he’s a volunteer favorite for his affectionate nature and playful energy.
Butterscotch – Arriving as a pregnant stray on January 10, 2024, Butterscotch raised 10 puppies who have all been adopted—now it’s her turn. This two-year-old sweetheart is great with kids, dogs, and cats. She’s active, adventurous, and would make the perfect companion for someone who loves outdoor activities like hiking and running.
