[Updated 11:30 a.m.] A new report from the Prince Willaim County Racial and Social Justice Commission calls for sweeping changes in county schools regarding student discipline and police in the classroom.
Schools and School Resource Police Officers need more diversion programs that will allow them to discipline students without filing a criminal complaint, the report states. The percentage of Black/African American high school students pulled from class for disciplinary reasons was at least three times that of White and Asian students from 2016-2020.
