Police Chief Peter Newsham was placed under the microscope on Tuesday following his decision to send a police officer to the home of a resident who criticized top elected county officials.
Republicans on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors hammered the chief, who has been on the job since January after stepping down as the top cop at Washington, D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department.
"This is really important: It's been said that the police department did this for political purposes, but that couldn't be further from the truth," said Newsham.
