Yesli Vega made history when she was the first Latina to be elected to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in 2019.
Since then, she's become an outspoken conservative voice on the county's top elected body. In turn, she's drawn the ire of left-leaning progressives that spent most of the last year taking potshots at her during meetings, claiming she doesn't represent Hispanics and that she "eats her pupusas [a griddle cake filled with cheese] with a fork."
While Vega sat silently taking the blatant racial abuse, others took notice and thought Vega, in fact, did represent the Hispanic community in Virginia -- a group of people whose families came to the U.S. to work hard, provide for their families, and to create a life and future better than what they were born into.
