Suspect accused of beating woman unconscious found in Woodbridge

A man accused of beating a woman unconscious in Woodbridge is now behind bars.

Police were patrolling the parking lot of the Woodbridge Virginia Railway Express station, located at 1040 Express Way in the Belmont Bay area, when they found a suspect wanted in connection to the assault that occurred in the parking lot of the nearby Marumsco Plaza located at 13901 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge on December 12.

While at the VRE station, officers saw a suspicious vehicle and stopped the driver. Officers identified the vehicle’s occupant as to the suspect from the assault, and took him into custody without incident, said a Prince William police spokesman.

On December 14, police were called to investigate an assault that occurred in the parking lot of the Marumsco Plaza located at 11:30 p.m. two days earlier. The victim, a 38-year-old woman, told police that she was inside a vehicle with a friend when the two got into an argument.

During the encounter, the accused struck the victim several times before the victim lost consciousness, police said.

Upon regaining consciousness, the victim fled and contacted a family member who took her to an area hospital where police were contacted.

The victim reported non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants.

Ralph Edon, 39, of no fixed address, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, police said. His court date was not yet listed.
