The Democratic nominee for the Prince Willliam Board of County Supervisors Chairman At-large seat supports a combined $396 million road and park bond on the November 5 ballot.
- If approved voters, a $355 million road, and $41 million park bond would be used to build new infrastructure in the county.
“Yes, because the road bond has money for fixing Route 28, and we need it to leverage state and federal money,” Wheeler told Potomac Local.
Wheeler, as county officials have suggested, would not move to borrow all $355 million voters could approve the Board of County Supervisors to do.
- It could borrow a portion of that amount and then use it to secure state and federal matching dollars for road projects.
- For park projects, however, similar matching dollars aren’t there, so leaders would most likely borrow the whole $41 million.
A project to improve Annapolis Way, cut from the list of proposed road bond projects, should be readded, adds Wheeler.
