The Woodbridge Community Choir is inviting singers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to join its 60th anniversary season, according to a press release from the all-volunteer group. The first rehearsal for the Christmas program is set for Monday, Aug. 31, at the Lutheran Church of the Covenant, 15008 Cloverdale Road in Woodbridge, with new members asked to arrive at 7 p.m. to register and practice beginning at 7:30 p.m. The choir rehearses every Monday at 7:30 p.m. and will present “WCC 60th Anniversary Traditional Christmas Music,” a program of sacred and secular arrangements, on Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. at the A.J. Ferlazzo Building in Woodbridge. Instrumentalists are also welcome, and the group is particularly interested in younger adults.
Founded in 1966, the non-auditioned choir has long offered free public concerts in the Woodbridge area and performed at sites including the Kennedy Center and on NBC’s “Today” show. Resident Musical Director Lee Irwin Culbreth said the group has brought people together through music, friendship and community service for six decades. The press release does not state whether the December concerts are free or require tickets, and it lists the performance venue only as the A.J. Woodbridge Community Choir Invites New Members to Join 60th Anniversary Season
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The all-volunteer Woodbridge Community Choir (WCC) is celebrating its 60th anniversary by inviting singers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to join its milestone season. With no auditions required, the choir welcomes anyone who enjoys singing.The first rehearsal for the Christmas season will be Monday, August 31, at the Lutheran Church of the Covenant, 15008 Cloverdale Road, Woodbridge. This anniversary season will feature “WCC 60th Anniversary Traditional Christmas Music,” a festive program of beloved sacred and secular choral arrangements drawn from many of the 100 most popular traditional Christmas songs of all time. Performances will be held Saturday, December 5 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 6 at 3:00 p.m. at the A.J. Ferlazzo Building in Woodbridge.
While the choir is especially interested in welcoming younger adults, membership is open to anyone with a love of singing. Instrumentalists are also welcome and encouraged to join.
