Stafford County Commissioner of the Revenue accepted to Harvard program

STAFFORD — Stafford County Commissioner of the Revenue Scott Mayausky is headed to Harvard.

He was recently awarded the prestigious Cahn Public Service Fellowship in conjunction with the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government. The fellowship will fund Mayausky’s attendance to The Kennedy School’s program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government this summer.

The Cahn Fellowship is a competitive Fellowship is made available to elected officials who currently hold office. Mayausky was one of four people selected for the July 2019 Senior Executives State and Local Government session.

To date, there have only been 22 Cahn Fellows to have completed the program. Past recipients include state representatives, state senators and state-wide elected officials from around the country.

The Senior Executives in State and Local Government program brings officials from around the country together to discuss strategic management, leadership and public policy issues facilitated by Harvard professors. This program is designed for senior-level managers serving in or working with state and local governments, including government officials, elected officeholders, and executives of nonprofit organizations, foundations, and national associations.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive the Cahn Fellowship. I am excited to share what we have been able to accomplish here in Stafford and learn from state and local leaders from around the world. Harvard will not only challenge me but also help me tackle the unique challenges we face in a dynamic community like Stafford,” said Mayausky.

While he’s preparing to pack his bags and head to Massachusetts for the summer, Mayausky is also running for re-election to keep his job as Stafford County Commissioner of the Revenue. It’s a constitutional office mandated by the state, tasked with and assessing and reassessing personal and updating the county’s real estate books.

The county’s treasurer’s office is responsible for preparing tax bills and collecting tax money.

Mayasusky was last elected four years ago. Voters will head to the polls November 5.
