Woman faces charges in North Stafford motel robbery

NORTH STAFFORD — A woman faces charges after someone climbed over the front desk of a North Stafford motel during a robbery.
Authorities said it happened at the Aquia Best Western located at 2868 Jefferson Davis Highway at 11:39 p.m. Wednesday.

A Stafford sheriff’s deputy was called to the motel and found an employee who said a woman had robbed the hotel.

The employee said the woman came into the hotel appearing distraught and asked for a room, but had no identification. The employee told her that she could not rent a room without identification. The woman then asked for a tissue and to use the restroom.
The employee then stepped away from the front desk to locate the key to the restroom. When he returned, he saw the woman had grabbed a chair and was climbing over the counter. When the employee asked her what she was doing, she told him she was robbing the business, said Stafford sheriffs spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo.

The employee attempted to stop the woman, but she shoved him away and took the register. She then went to a back area of the hotel where she emptied some of the cash from the register into her clothing and purse, said Vicinanzo. The employee managed to grab the woman, and that’s when she tried to bite him, Vicinanzo adds.

A customer witnessed the incident and called 911.

The suspect was taken into custody, and a search of her purse yielded cash, a container containing white powdery residue, and a needle, said Vicinanzo. The suspect initially provided them with false identification and was later correctly identified as, said Vicinanzo.
Deputies discovered that Shuck had previously trespassed from the hotel, said Vicinanzo. In addition, the woman is also wanted for failing to appear in a Stafford County courtroom on a larceny-related offense, said Vicinanzo.

Amanda Lee Shuck, 29, of Stafford, was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on charges of robbery, false identification to law enforcement, assault and battery, identity theft, possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled paraphernalia, and trespassing, said Vicinanzo.
