STAFFORD COUNTY — Stafford authorities said an employee of a public-private swimming center at Embrey Mill in Stafford County stole credit card information from members.
Investigators were called to the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center at 1600 Mine Road, on Monday, April 22. They said there were multiple credit card thefts by a sport center employee.
The center had been contacted by several new members who experienced fraudulent charges on their credit cards after signing up for new memberships, said Stafford sheriff’s spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo.
Video footage showed that an employee identified as Richard Allen, Jr., 18, of Stafford, was typing information from member files onto his laptop, said Vicinanzo.
He is charged with computer fraud, credit card fraud, credit card theft, and identity theft, she adds.
Vicinanzo could not say long the suspect had been working at the center.
The Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center was built with funds from Stafford County taxpayers and opened in 2016. The center is owned by the county and is managed by Eastern Sports Management.
