MANASSAS — Students at Manassas’s high school this year will be welcomed at an after-prom party.
The Osbourn High School “Eagles After Prom” is an annual event coordinated by parent volunteers to provide the Osbourn High School Juniors, Seniors, and their dates a safe and fun alternative to deter them from engaging in other post-prom plans that could be destructive, according to Erica Washington, whose on the after-prom committee.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday, May 11 following prom, from 12:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. at the Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center just outside Manassas, at 10900 University Boulevard.
A variety of entertainment, activities are scheduled for the students and food and gift card donations are solicited from parents and the community. All juniors and seniors are invited to attend, whether they attend prom or not.
Those who attended prom are can attend Eagles After Prom for free. Those who didn’t attend the dance may pay $10 to attend the after-prom event.
This year, Miller Toyota, of Manassas, will provide a tricycle distracted driving obstacle course to make students aware of the dangers of distracted driving.
Planning a late night party for over 200 students is no small task. The planning committee is made up of a small group of parents, and are currently looking for other parents, students and the community to support and sponsor the 2019 Eagles After Prom party with their time and, or resources to ensure a great night for our juniors and seniors.
