Screened-in porch no barrier for Xbox for burglar

STAFFORD — An Xbox was taken from a home on Page Street on Saturday, April 6 at 12:45 a.m. A sheriff’s deputy was called after the gaming system was reported stolen.

The deputy learned the residents had been awakened when a stranger entered their home through a sliding door and stole several items located on their screened-in porch, including the Xbox, according to Stafford sheriff’s spokeswoman.

One of the residents saw two men on the porch. He turned on the porch light, prompting the two men to flee. Deputies canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

The incident remains under investigation.

The sheriff’s office also says two Woodbridge men were arrested after items were stolen from a Walmart in south Stafford.

Deputies were called to a Walmart at 11 Village Parkway 4:21 a.m. on Sunday, April 14. A customer told deputies two men left the store without paying for a full cart of merchandise, a Stafford sheriff’s spokeswoman states.

The men left in a blue sedan and took off down Warrenton Road (Route 17). A sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description on Route 17 near the Interstate 95 northbound entrance.

The deputy stopped the car, and search found four unopened hoverboards and clothing items totaling over $900 were located in the trunk of the vehicle, according to a Stafford sheriff’s spokeswoman.

Surveillance camera footage confirmed they were the suspects behind the shoplifting incident, she adds.

William Pearson, 47, of Woodbridge and the passenger as Severn Jackson, 36, of Woodbridge are charged with grand larceny and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Jackson was also served an outstanding warrant from Manassas for shoplifting, she said.

Both men were held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
