Hooded robber hits United Bank on Smoketown Road

WOODBRIDGE — (Press Release) Bank Robbery – On December 14 at 9:15 a.m., officers responded to the Smoketown Road in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery.

The investigation revealed that an unknown man entered the bank then approached the teller counter. During the encounter, the suspect United Bank located at 13870 Smoketown Road implied he had a weapon and demanded money.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area on foot. No weapon was seen, and no injuries were reported.

A police K-9 and helicopter searched for the suspect who was not located. The investigation continues. Suspect Description: Light skinned black male, approximately 40 years of age, 5’08”-6’00”, with an average build Last seen wearing beige jacket, blue jeans, and an orange cloth covering his hand

In other news,  during the afternoon of December 13, officers responded to three separate locations throughout the county, two in Woodbridge and one in Manassas, after emails were received that threatened to bomb the locations if monetary demands were not met. Upon further investigation, detectives from the Intel Unit determined that the email threats were being sent to a variety of e-mail addresses throughout the County using the anonymizing e-mail service “Guerrilla Mail,” and were not credible.
