From the Prince William Couty Department of Fire and Rescue:
On Monday, November 21st , at 11:15 a.m., fire and rescue crews were dispatched to a structure fire in a two-story single family home located in the 4900 block of Frishman Court in Woodbridge.
Upon entry, fire and rescue units observed fire in the basement that had extended to the living room floor with heavy smoke filtering throughout the home. Due to high winds, a second alarm was sounded. Firefighters initiated suppression and quickly extinguished the fire.
No injuries reported.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Red Cross was on scene to assist, 3 adults, displaced by the fire.
Utility crews working in the front yard reported hitting the main electrical line prior to noticing the fire.
According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, preliminary damages are estimated at $200,000.
The Building Official has posted the home unsafe.
The fire originated in the main electrical panel; the cause is undetermined and currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
