From Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue:
On Sunday, November 20th at 12 :47 p.m., fire and rescue crews were dispatched to a structure fire in a single family home located in the 7200 block of Ridgeway Drive [near] Manassas.
Upon arrival, fire and rescue units observed fire showing from the top of the chimney with extension to the attic. Firefighters initiated suppression and quickly extinguished the fire.
The occupants, two adults, home at the time of the fire, were alerted to the fire by the sounding of the smoke alarm enabling them to safely evacuate the home. Two adults and 2 pets were displaced by the fire.
According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, preliminary damages are estimated at $20,000. The Building Inspector was on scene and has posted the home unsafe.
