Anderson to hold town hall after Lake Ridge murders

Ruth Anderson will hold a special town hall meeting tonight in the wake of two murders in her Occoquan Magisterial District.

Anderson said the deaths of 37-year-old Erica Hickson whose body was found Friday, and 36-year-old Lizeth Lopez whose body was found April 29, have been difficult for area residents to understand.

The Occoquan District Supervisor released this statement Monday:

I have been in touch with the police since the latest incident. Our PWC Police Department, under the direction of Chief Barnard, will have additional presence in the area as they continue to investigate these crimes. I am currently in discussions with the Police Department to see if there are any further measures that need to be taken to increase the safety in our community.

Because this is such an alarming issue, and I want to make certain your concerns are addressed, I am hosting a Community Meeting this coming Tuesday, August 9th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Old Bridge United Methodist Church, 3966 Old Bridge Rd, Woodbridge, VA 22192.  At a minimum, we will have our PWC Police and Social Services Departments involved in the meeting. We welcome all residents to attend this meeting to receive information about these incidents and to have an opportunity to ask questions.

Hickson and Lopez worked at the private Youth Quest Independent Living facility in Lake Ridge. Ronald Dorsey, 19, a resident of the program, is charged with both murders.

Hickson’s death is the 16th reported homicide in Prince William County in 2015. Lopez’s death is the county’s 5th reported homicide of the year.
