Dale City hit and run victim was suspect in robbery

The woman killed in an hit and run crash Tuesday morning in was a suspect in a robbery.

A bicyclist was struck while riding in the area of Dale Boulevard and Birchdale Avenue in Dale City at 1:08 a.m. Tuesday, May 10. The bicyclist was headed west on Dale Boulevard in the left lane when a driver struck the rider.

The driver briefly crossed over the median of the roadway and then got back onto the road after hitting the bicyclist, but did not stop to help, said Prince William Sgt. Jonathan Perok.

A police officer found the bicyclist and performed CPR. The victim, identified the victim as 36-year-old Nicole Marcella Lemar, of Allentown, Pa., was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the striking vehicle could be an early 2000s model minivan, possibly a Dodge Caravan with drivers side fender damage.

About a half hour before Lemar was struck, police were called to Potomac Mills mall at 2700 Potomac Mills Circle in Woodbridge for a report of a robbery.

A 22-year-old woman told police she agreed to meet a friend and his girlfriend near the mall at 12:22 a.m. An argument ensued, and one robbery suspect pushed the victim to the ground. The woman then assaulted the victim and took her cell phone, according to police.

Both robbery suspects fled the scene on bicycles. The unrelated call about the struck bicyclist came in a short time later.

The male robbery suspect stayed on the scene of he hit and run and was was arrested, said police.

Ronald Raymone Souers, 35, of 3639 Serendipity Road in Woodbridge is charged with robbery, said Perok. He is scheduled to appear in court July 20.
