Clouds will increase today, and the threat of thunderstorms looms over Friday morning.
A cold front approaching the area will bring increased cloudiness to our region later today. The front is the same weather system that brought tornadoes to the Midwest yesterday.
Temperatures will remain warm in our region today with highs in the low to mid-70s. Some showers will move in from the west but will most likely dissipate due to dry air in place, according to the National Weather Service.
By Friday morning’s rush hour, thunderstorms should develop across the region ahead of the cold front, Later in the day, the cold front moves from the Blue Ridge Mountains east to Interstate 95. Some more thunderstorms could fire up Friday afternoon while the cold front crosses our area, according to the weather service.

Showers creep back into the forecast on Friday night, but mainly after midnight. Showers will hang around for Saturday, mainly before 2 p.m. Temperatures will reach the mid-60s.
Expect sunny skies on Sunday with temperatures in the mid-50s.
