Attempted Fraud
On March 10, 2016, Manassas City Police met with a resident for a report of an attempted fraud. The reporting party, a 19-year-old female, told officers that she received a phone call from a man who claimed to represent the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The caller demanded that the resident send over $1,000 by wire transfer for debt he claimed she owed, and insisted she would be arrested if she did not comply. After consulting a family member, the victim recognized the call as a scam and called Police.
Larceny
On March 10, 2016, Manassas City Police responded to Battlefield Ford (8980 Mathis Ave) for a report of a larceny. The reporting party told officers that sometime between March 3 and 10, someone stole two faded pink “Go-Jacks” (valued at $350 each) off one of the company’s newly purchased trucks. The truck was parked across from the business on Mathis Ave at the time of the theft.
Larceny
On March 10, 2016, Manassas City Police met with a resident for a report of a larceny. The reporting party told officers that during the evening hours of March 9, he left his wallet in an unlocked locker while working out at LA Fitness (9946 Liberia Ave). On March 10, the victim was notified by his bank that fraudulent charges had been placed at various stores in Manassas. The victim then discovered that two of his credit cards were missing from his wallet.
Vandalism to Auto
On March 9, 2016, Manassas City Police responded to Nathan’s Ice Cream (8948 Mathis Ave) for a report of a vandalism. The reporting party told officers that the company’s RV, which was kept parked behind the store, had been scratched. Damages were estimated at $3,000.
Vandalism to Auto
On March 9, 2016, Manassas City Police met with a resident on the 8300 block of Liberia Ave for a report of a vandalism to auto. The reporting party told officers that since Feb. 25, his work vehicle had been vandalized twice by an unknown subject. The victim said that during the overnight hours of Feb. 25, someone shattered the front driver’s side window, causing $250 in damage. Between 6 p.m. on March 8 and 8 a.m. on March 9, someone also shattered his front windshield using what appeared to have been a BB pellet gun, causing an additional $250 in damage. The vehicle was parked on Thornwood Ct at the time of each incident.
