Trees obstructing this sign on the trimming list

Spotting what’s on this road sign is not easy to do as it is with other road signs.

A tree blocks the view of the sign that notifies drivers headed west on Prince William Parkway of upcoming Balls Ford Road and Interstate 66.

The view of this sign has been blocked at least six months.

We asked the Virginia Department of Transportation if they knew about the obstructed view, and about how often trees are trimmed to prevent the obstruction of road signs.

States VDOT spokeswoman Jennifer McCord:

Crews trim trees or vegetation that has grown to obstruct signs or cause other sight distance issues as needed. The area superintendents also check their roads and schedule tree-trimming contractors to take care of issues noted.

Drivers and residents can report any tree obstruction issues or issues of any kind online at www.virigniadot.org or by calling our customer service center 24/7 at 800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623).
