Prepare for the storm today

Like most grocery stores in our area today, lines at Aldi on Liberia Avenue in Manassas snaked from the front to the back of the store.

“Please place your milk, eggs, and water on top of your cart when you come through,” one employee shouted as customers queued up to come through the lines.

The winter storm staples of milk, bread, and toilet paper were flying off the shelves about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Shoppers were stocking up before a major, potentially “historic” storm hits the region Friday afternoon to Sunday morning.

Nearly two feet of snow is expected to fall across the region. It’s highly likely that where you are Friday is where you will be Sunday or Monday.

The weather forecast is sunny today with highs in the mid-30s. Get out today while you can to prepare for the storm, and post photos to our Facebook page staring today to keep us informed about what’s happening in your neighborhood.
