Dogs sniff out drugs, bombs in Manassas Regional Airport

Manassas Regional Airport was flooded with dogs.

K9 teams last week were sent from federal, state, and local agencies to improve their abilities of sniffing out drugs and bombs.

The 80 K9 teams trained by working with two Virginia Railway Express trains and two 34-passenger airplanes provided by Capital Aviation.

“It was very interesting to watch the K9 units working at the airport,” Joe Gardner from Dulles Aviation stated in a press release.  “The dogs are very well trained and the officers were more than professional.  I was happy we could help them out with a training environment.  This group is a great asset to our community.”

John Arnold Jr., George Mason University Master Police Officer and K9 handler, was also there to work with Manassas Regional Airport director Juan Rivera.

“Any time that the Manassas Regional Airport can be of service to our law enforcement community is a bonus,” Rivera stated in a press release.  “Security is of the utmost importance at the Airport and these K9 partners help to ensure security around the DMV (Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia).”

Manassas Regional Airport is located at 10600 Harry J. Parrish Boulevard in Manassas.

It is the largest executive regional airport in Virginia.
