The driver of a 2009 Pontiac Vibe was pronounced dead on the scene of a crash Friday.
According to police reports, the car was on fire when officers reached the scene of the accident.
The identity of the driver and cause of crash are unknown.

Fatal Crash Investigation – On January 8 at 12:00AM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 18100 block of Joplin Rd in Triangle (22172) to investigate a single vehicle crash.
When officers arrived, the vehicle was found fully engulfed in flames. The driver was located inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation revealed that the 2009 Pontiac Vibe, occupied only by the driver, was traveling eastbound on Joplin Rd when it left the roadway.
It is unknown at this time if speed, alcohol, and drugs are factors. Investigators are awaiting positive identification of the driver. The investigation continues.
