MANASSAS, Va. – Several people were stuck in an elevator this morning at a high-rise office building in Manassas following a power outage.
Fire and rescue crews are on the scene at 9720 Capital Court where the building went dark about 9 a.m. The building is home to the Prince William Chamber of Commerce.
A source inside the building said people are stuck in an elevator, but they were eventually able to get out.
Manassas spokeswoman Patty Prince said there is an identified power outage on circuit 301 affecting 1,059 customers in the areas of Confederate Trail, Hayden School, Ashton Avenue, and Rolling Road. Officials were going to “back feed” power to the affected areas to restore service, said Prince.
Manassas supplies its own power to homes and businesses in the city and does not rely on the Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative or Dominion Virginia Power as surrounding jurisdictions do.
