Would-Be Burglar Caught on Home Video

GAINESVILLE, Va. — A howeowner in Gainesville used a camera to capture video of a masked man who looked like he was going to break into her home.

More in a press release from police:

Attempted Residential Burglary – On March 18th at 2:05PM, police responded to the 6900 block of Stanwick Sq in Gainesville (20155) for a burglary in progress. Homeowner reported to police that he observed an unknown man removing the screen on a rear window. The homeowner confronted the suspect who then fled on foot. No injuries were reported and no entry was made into the residence. The homeowner was able to record part of the incident on a cell phone. A police K-9 was utilized in the search for the suspect.

Black male, between 15 & 22 years of age, 5’10”, 140lbs, thin build

Last seen wearing a gray sweatpants, black jacket, white shirt over his face, blue gloves, and a backpack
