MANASSAS, Va. — Police said a woman was abducted at a Target store on Sowder Village Square just outside of Manassas on Saturday night. More in an unedited press release.
Abduction | Grand Larceny | Felony Eluding – On March 16th at 11:06PM, police responded to the 9900 block of Sowder Village Sq in Manassas (20109) for a domestic. The victim, an 18 year old woman of Midland, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation in the parking lot of the Target which escalated.
During the encounter, the accused became agitated and victim locked herself in her vehicle and called 9-1-1. At that point, the accused broke out the driver’s side window and pulled the victim from the vehicle. The accused took the victim’s phone and disconnected with 9-1-1 before he forced her into his own vehicle.
A struggle ensued in the vehicle and the victim was able to remove the keys from the ignition and run from the vehicle. The accused then exited his vehicle and got into the victim’s vehicle to chase after her. At that point, officers were arriving at the location.
The vehicle initially failed to stop for the officers and almost struck a police cruiser. Officers followed the vehicle in the parking lot until the accused stopped and was taken into custody. Minor injuries were reported.
