MANASSAS, Va. — A once-removed immigrant from El Salvador and Honduras was arrested in Manassas. He’s wanted in his home country and is charged with kidnapping and with attempted murder.

Melvin Noe Sanchez-Izaguirre, 34, was arrested outside his residence in Manassas, Va., by officers of ERO Washington’s Fugitive Operations Team. An ICE ERO officer assigned to INTERPOL notified the team of an active Red Notice on Sanchez by law enforcement in San Salvador.
Sanchez illegally re-entered the U.S. after ICE removed him to Honduras in 2012. He evaded extradition from Honduras to El Salvador when he was removed in 2012 because the last name he used on his Honduran identity differed from his El Salvadorian identity. Sanchez will remain in ICE custody pending his removal proceedings and a final order of removal by an immigration judge.
“Those who evade the law in another country cannot come to hide in our communities,” said M. Yvonne Evans, director of the Washington, D.C. field office. “ICE works closely with INTERPOL and foreign law enforcement partners to ensure those who are wanted for crimes in their country, and are here illegally, will be removed and held accountable for their actions.”
ERO enforces the nation’s immigration laws by identifying and arresting removable aliens, and by detaining and removing priority aliens from the United States. ERO prioritizes the arrest and removal of convicted criminal aliens, those aliens who pose a threat to national security, immigration fugitives, and recent border entrants.
