NORTH STAFFORD, Va. -- One woman, the driver of a car that slammed into a tractor trailer about 8 p.m. Friday night in Stafford County, faces charges.
The crash happened when a tractor trailer was backing into the parking lot of a business while using all four lanes of U.S. 1 just south of Telegraph Road. About the same time, the female driver of a 2001 Volvo sedan with small child inside traveling south on U.S. 1 slammed into the truck's trailer, said Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler.
The driver and her child were extricated from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital. The child was unharmed, and the woman suffered injuries that didn't appear to be life threatening, said Tyler. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
