NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — One woman, the driver of a car that slammed into a tractor trailer about 8 p.m. Friday night in Stafford County, faces charges.
The crash happened when a tractor trailer was backing into the parking lot of a business while using all four lanes of U.S. 1 just south of Telegraph Road. About the same time, the female driver of a 2001 Volvo sedan with small child inside traveling south on U.S. 1 slammed into the truck’s trailer, said Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler.
The driver and her child were extricated from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital. The child was unharmed, and the woman suffered injuries that didn’t appear to be life threatening, said Tyler. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
Stafford County officials reported Friday night the crash happened near Sunnyside Nursery. Tyler could not say what which parking lot the truck was backing into at the time of the accident.
A portion of U.S. 1 near the crash scene was closed and traffic was turned around near the nursery.
Kristen Kiser, 29, of Dale City, face reckless driving charges following the crash, said Tyler. The entire incident remains under investigation.
