MANASSAS, Va. — Officials are planning for thousands of Mitt Romney supporters to fill the streets of Manassas’s historic Old Town district today.
Romney, fresh of announcing Rep. Paul Ryan as his vice-presidential running mate, will stop for a campaign rally in Manassas. Public safety officials have marked a “footprint” around Old Town marking where vehicles and pedestrians may not access through seven o’clock tonight.
Gates to the rally open at 2 p. m. and event begins at 3:45 p.m.
Several streets have been closed and parking will be at a premium.
What you need to know:
Center Street (Va. 28) north from Grant Street (Va. 234) and Battle Street is closed for vehicle and pedestrian traffic until 7 p.m.
West Street closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until 7 p.m.
Parking will be available at the city’s parking garage on Prince William Street and in commuter lots in and around Old Town.
Handicapped parking will be available behind 7-Eleven on Church Street.
